> Wetherby Art Loan Scheme

The Art Loan Scheme was founded in Wetherby some forty years ago with the objective of promoting high quality paintings by Yorkshire artists and making these available to the residents of Wetherby and surrounding districts.

The unique approach taken was to allow residents to hire a picture, on approval, between exhibitions to ensure total satisfaction with the work before eventual purchase or return.

The Scheme runs a two-day exhibition in the Wetherby Town Hall, once in the Spring and again in the Autumn for which entry is free and customers may browse the pictures on display and may reserve a picture of their choice for either the full purchase price or for a nominal, once only, hiring fee. If a picture is hired, it may be kept until the next exhibition at which time the hirer may elect to pay the balance of the purchase price or return the painting.
